Brex Pricing 2026: Essentials $0, Premium $12 a User, Points at 0.6 Cent and Treasury Under Capital One
Brex costs $0 per user on Essentials and $12 per active user a month on Premium; Enterprise is custom. Wires and ACH from the Brex business account are free, card purchases in a foreign currency cost up to 3%, and Brex points are worth 0.6 cent each as cash (1 cent on Brex travel). Essentials fits a venture-funded SaaS startup from pre-seed on, if it has a US entity and $50,000 in cash; a bootstrapped company needs more than $500,000 a year in revenue (the bar was $1 million until summer 2026). Capital One completed its acquisition of Brex on April 7, 2026. Brex is still not a bank, and your cash does not become a Capital One deposit.

Brex's self-serve Premium terms bill "at a rate of $12 USD per active user per month", on the 1st of each month for the prior month. A "$15 monthly" Premium price on one ranking page (Eightx, June 2026) does not appear anywhere on brex.com; negotiated contracts may differ. The $0 and $12 prices are unchanged in every Wayback capture from April 2024 to October 2026 (Brex pricing page). For negotiated contracts, Vendr reports a median of $19,327 a year across 39 purchases (February 2026); Eightx quotes Vendr at $18,646 across 38 deals. Both are reported figures, not Brex prices.
What Brex costs at pre-seed, seed and Series A
| Stage | Essentials plan | Premium plan | Wires and SWIFT | Card FX at the 3% ceiling | FX on non-USD wires | Points | Yield: Brex Treasury on idle cash |

Per year. The activity profile is our assumption: pre-seed $500K cash ($150K operating), 2 domestic wires and 1 non-USD payment of $3K a month, $4K card spend (10% non-USD), 3 users; seed $3M ($500K operating), 6 wires, 4 payments of $6K, $20K card spend, 10 users; Series A $12M ($2M operating), 15 wires, 12 payments of $10K, $80K card spend (15% non-USD), 30 users. Yield: Brex "total treasury return" tier for the total balance, on cash above the operating balance (Brex Checking pays no yield); Brex Treasury is the BNY Dreyfus Government Cash Management Fund (DGVXX), a money market fund, plus a Brex-paid additional return. Brex prints no as-of date; tiers read October 13, 2026. Computed with our banking cost calculator.
On fees, Essentials costs our startup only card FX on foreign spend. Premium adds $432 to $4,320 a year in seats. The yield line is dozens of times larger than either, so check what it is: a money market fund, covered by SIPC as a security and not by the FDIC. For comparison, the same model gives Ramp Checking (a 2% APY bank deposit, as of 10/13/2026) $10,000, $60,000 and $240,000. Those are different products with different protection, which is why we show them side by side in Ramp vs Brex rather than adding them up. Run your own numbers.
The treasury figure changed method in autumn 2026
Brex's treasury tiers today run from 3.56% (under $500K) to 3.91% ($20M and up), built from the DGVXX 7-day yield plus an "additional return" of 0% to 0.35% paid by Brex Treasury LLC. Between September 2 and October 3, 2026, Brex changed the headline from "the annual percentage rate based on the current 7-day average yield" (top tier 3.71%) to "an annualized compounded number" (top tier 3.91%). Part of that 0.20 point jump is compounding, not a higher rate. The fund's own 7-day yield printed by Brex was 3.50% when we read it. Older figures still on the web ("up to 4.36%" on Brex's own versus-Ramp page and a Rho comparison dated July 31, 2026) do not match Brex's July and August 2026 pages (3.69% and 3.70%).
Points instead of cashback
Brex pays points, not a flat percentage. On the default program with monthly payments, recurring software earns 2x and most other spend 1x; at the 0.6-cent cash value that is 1.2% on software and 0.6% on everything else. Brex's own "2.35%" example values points at the 1-cent travel rate. Points are earned only on "USD-denominated transactions made with merchants in the US", so foreign SaaS and ad bills earn nothing and can cost up to 3% in FX. New business-account customers get 10,000 points for spending $3,000 in three months. Points are lost if you close the account.
Other fees
- Business account: $0 for ACH, checks and domestic and international wires in and out (Brex rates and fees). For non-USD wires Brex chooses the FX rate "at our sole discretion" and publishes no markup.
- Card FX: the Card Terms say markups are "typically equal to up to three percent"; the help center says the fee "will not exceed 3%".
- Late payment: 2.99% of the delinquent balance or $38, whichever is higher.
Who can sign up, and where the cash sits
Brex requires a US EIN, US incorporation, US operations and a US physical address. You then need any one of: equity funding of any amount (startups need $50,000 in cash, possibly less through a partner referral), more than $500,000 a year in revenue, or a referral as a startup on that path. The revenue bar read "more than $1 million" until at least July 8, 2026 and "$500,000" from August 20, 2026. In June 2022 Brex told "tens of thousands" of small business customers without professional funding that they would be removed by August 15 (TechCrunch).
Brex Checking is a deposit at Column N.A., FDIC-insured up to $250,000 across all sub-accounts. Vault sweeps cash to 24 program banks for "up to $6M" of FDIC coverage, and funds "are not FDIC-insured until they arrive at program banks". Treasury is a money market fund under SIPC ($500,000 including $250,000 cash, no protection against a fall in value). Capital One announced the deal on January 22, 2026 at $5.15 billion and completed it on April 7, 2026; Brex LLC is now "a wholly owned subsidiary of Capital One, N.A." but Brex's checking is still held at Column, not at Capital One.
Not hands-on tested yet: we have not opened an account with Brex, which requires a US company and identity checks. Fees and rates come from Brex's published pricing page, fee schedule and help center, read on October 13, 2026.
