What a year of Digits costs

SetupPlanPer monthPer year
One company, cash-basis booksEssentials$65$780
One company on accrual, with deferred revenue or prepaid schedulesCore$100$1,200
Parent plus one subsidiary, both on CoreCore × 2$200$2,400
One company needing budget vs actuals and custom reportsPro (when available)$250$3,000

Software is the smaller part of the bill. Digits keeps the books; someone still has to review them, close the year and file the return. Digits points customers to partner accountants, CFOs and tax firms in its directory, priced separately. Our startup bookkeeping cost page puts the full cost of software plus outside help next to done-for-you services.

What each plan adds

Essentials ($65). For "solopreneurs and early-stage businesses": the ledger, 24/7 AI bookkeeping and reconciliation, connections to "12,000+ banks, cards, and payroll providers", profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow statements, a home dashboard, quality checks, bill pay, invoicing, vendor and customer tracking, document vault, mobile apps, roles and permissions and Ask Digits. Digits supports cash and accrual accounting on every plan.

Core ($100). Adds automated schedules (accruals and amortization, the piece a SaaS company needs once it books annual prepayments as deferred revenue) and dimensional accounting, plus revenue and spend integrations. Digits labels it "Most Popular".

Pro ($250, coming soon). For "scaling businesses with internal finance teams": budget vs actuals and custom reports and dashboards. On Essentials and Core, custom reports and dashboards are available only through Digits' accounting-firm partners.

Who Digits suits

A good fit if you are a US startup that wants the books kept continuously by software rather than closed once a month by a person, and you are comfortable with a modern ledger in place of QuickBooks Online. Accounting firms are a large part of its audience: the pricing FAQ describes a firm platform with unlimited team seats and client-level plans.

Check first if you have entities outside the US (not supported), need your accountant to work in QuickBooks or Xero, or want someone to do the close and taxes for you. Digits is software, so you would pair it with a bookkeeper or CPA, or pick a service such as Pilot or another firm instead.

Digits vs Puzzle

Puzzle is the closest software in price and pitch: real-time accounting software for startups, with AI categorization and burn, runway and ARR on its dashboard. Puzzle starts lower, at $30 a month ($24 billed yearly) on Starter, with Core at $72, Complete at $120 and Scale at $360 a month (20% less billed yearly). Details and plan limits are on our Puzzle pricing page.

Where a forecast fits

Digits records what happened. Pro's budget vs actuals compares results with a budget, but it does not build the forward plan: how many customers you add, when you hire, how long the cash lasts. That is a separate job. Our SaaS budget template and 13-week cash flow template are free starting points, and a SaaS model such as Adlega imports your actuals to run the 36-month forecast.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Digits cost?

$65 a month for Essentials, $100 for Core and $250 for Pro, per business. Pro is marked coming soon. There is no setup fee.

Does Digits have a free trial?

Yes, 30 days.

Does Digits file my taxes?

No. Digits prepares the books and a tax package you can export to your preparer, and lists partner tax firms in its directory.

Can I use Digits for more than one company?

Yes, but each business or location needs its own subscription, and only US entities are supported.

Is Digits a replacement for a bookkeeper?

Partly. Digits automates categorization and reconciliation, which is much of a bookkeeper's routine work, but someone still has to review the books, close the year and file taxes. Digits says using an accountant "is entirely up to you" and lists partner firms for verified financials and tax.
