Importing historical data
Updated July 18, 2026
The Historical data section lets you enter what already happened — your actual past months — so the forecast starts from reality instead of a clean guess.
What you can import
For your past months you can add actuals for:
- Revenue
- Customers
- Expenses
Why it matters
Anchoring your model to real history does two things:
- Credibility. Investors trust a forecast that connects to a real trajectory far more than one that starts from zero with optimistic assumptions.
- Accuracy. Your growth, churn and cost assumptions can be sanity-checked against what actually happened, so the forward projection is grounded.
When to use it
- If you have 6–12 months of operating history, add it. It is the single fastest way to make your model believable.
- If you are pre-launch, skip this section and let the forecast run purely on assumptions.
Historical actuals are optional but high-value. Even a few months of real revenue and customer counts noticeably improves how a model reads to an investor.
