What-if mode: test scenarios

Updated July 18, 2026

What-if mode lets you test a change without touching your real model. Try a scenario, see the impact next to your baseline, then apply it or throw it away.

Preset scenarios

Start with a one-tap preset:

  • Base — your current model, unchanged.
  • Optimistic — lower churn and higher marketing spend.
  • Pessimistic — higher churn and lower spend.

These give you an instant best-case and worst-case bracket around your plan.

Manual levers

For a targeted test, adjust any what-if-enabled field with a slider and watch the forecast update live:

  • Churn rate
  • Marketing budget
  • Pricing
  • Headcount and salary

Compare side by side

What-if mode shows your baseline and the scenario together — KPI cards next to each other, and charts for MRR and cash where the baseline is a dashed line and the scenario is solid. Improvements and declines are colored so the impact is obvious at a glance.

Apply or discard

  • Apply — save the scenario back into your model as the new baseline.
  • Discard — drop it and return to your original, untouched.
The most valuable habit: always run your plan through the pessimistic case. Knowing your runway if you hit 80% of plan is more useful than admiring the best case.
